Ballot types and their configurations

This article describes the different types of ballots available in Eligo.

CANDIDATE ELECTION

What is it? It is the expression of a preference for one or more competing candidates. The voter chooses the person they consider most suitable to hold a position.

When is it used? It is generally used for the election of single-person positions or specific roles, such as the President, Treasurer, or Secretary of an association.

In this case, in the TYPE section of the configuration window, you can choose the minimum/maximum number of preferences.

The maximum number of preferences cannot be less than the minimum number of preferences.

It is not possible to set the minimum number of preferences equal to 0; to allow voting for no candidate, the Blank Ballot must be enabled.
It is possible to show candidates randomly rather than following a predetermined order in the candidate upload phase.

LIST ELECTION

What is it? It is a vote assigned to a group of people running together under a single name or symbol. Candidates belonging to competing lists can be elected.

When is it used? It is the most commonly used procedure for electing union representatives.

In case of a "List Election", in the second section it is necessary to configure the voting option, choosing between:
  1. Candidates Only
  2. List only
  3. List and candidates

It is possible to configure the maximum and minimum number of preferences for candidates, as explained in the previous paragraph.

PROPOSAL VOTING

What is it? It is a vote on a specific topic or document. No people are chosen; instead, a favorable or unfavorable opinion is expressed on an idea or a resolution.

When is it used? It is the standard method for approving financial statements, amending the bylaws, or deciding on investments and joint projects.

To configure it, in the TYPE section you simply need to select the voting type and the counting method.
