Adding a ballot during an ongoing event

This article explains how to open or add a new ballot during an already active voting session. This is useful in cases of a tie (run-off vote) or to manage additional votes in real time.

During an assembly or a voting session that has already started, it may be necessary to repeat a vote due to a tie or to add votes that were not previously planned (for example, new motions).

How to create a new ballot during an active voting session

  1. In the back office, click “+ Add ballot”:

  2. Create the new ballot with the desired title and characteristics, as explained in the article on How to create a ballot.
  3. When adding voters, if they are the same as in the previous vote, you must use the same Excel file that was used to upload voters for the first ballot.
To simplify the process, you can download the list directly from the first ballot and then upload it to the second one:

STEP 1: click the (⋮) icon to the right of the ballot and select “Manage electors”.

    STEP 2:
download the Excel list by clicking the corresponding button.

    STEP 3:
drag and drop or select the newly downloaded file in the voter upload area.

  4. At this point, still using the (⋮) icon to the right of the newly created ballot, click “Send credentials”.

This action will not send new credentials to the voters but will confirm the validation of the vote. From this moment on, the vote can be managed by opening and closing it.

Managing the new vote

To open the new vote, click the (⋮) icon to the right of the ballot and select “Open single ballot”.

From that moment, voters will see the new ballot as open.

To suspend or close the vote, click the same icon again and select “Suspend vote” or “Close vote” to proceed directly with the vote count.

If run-off votes or repeated votes are expected, it is possible to create the additional ballots in advance and use them only if needed. In this case, voters will also see the ballots in preparation until they are opened.
